What would the Goofy Guru do if money were not an issue?

Instead of asking people, “What do you do?” I often ask complete strangers, “If money were not an issue, what would you do?”   (*I learn so much about a person from this simple, fun question and it prevents “small talk”!)

I have not asked myself this question in quite a while, so I thought I would ask myself, “Kelly, what would YOU do if money were not an issue?” *I am sharing my response in hopes that one day I will look back upon this simple blog and say, ”Look!  I manifested ALL of THIS!”

Naturally, in Gratitude, I will start by addressing the immediate needs and dreams of my family and friends.  This could be buying my sister and her family their dream home; paying-off medical bills for my mother and her partner as well as arranging home-based integrated massage and physical therapy for both of them and any other needs they may have that will make their lives more comfortable and healthy; buying Nancy a pimped-out RV *or getting her and Faud to Morocco (!!); helping a friend start her/his new dream business—basically, contributing to the DREAMS of my family and friends.

As for myself, I would buy myself an eco-friendly home/office/sanctuary, in a warm tropical setting, near the ocean and OPEN IT UP to family, friends, friends of friends, conscious community and especially to fellow healers, lightworkers, artists, musicians, nomads, caregivers, activists, dreamers, social entrepreneurs, and anyone seeking healing, refuge or to re-charge as needed, without the anxiety of compensation and without judgment.  *I BELIEVE in the Law of Circulation - Flow of Giving and Receiving:

The Law of Circulation states that all things in the universe are always flowing in circulation but at an ever expanding rate. What you give to one person, you will receive from a different source. So you don’t have to give with the expectation of receiving back from the same person you give to, but knowing that it will definitely come back to you multiplied from other sources. It works according to the law of cause and effect where the universe always mirrors back to you whatever you do.

When I am not at home, at my own LightHouse (*which I will name “The Funny Farm”), I will be traveling around the world, documenting and sharing BRILLIANT ideas, products, services, systems and conscious ways of BE-ing, living, working, loving, etc. in order to educate and inspire ALL to create the lives they REALLY aspire to be living; in other words, collecting, connecting and sharing the raw materials to create a NEW EARTH—complete with new economic/business/trade structures, new governing models (*ultimately, conscious SELF-government), new ways of communicating and decision-making, etc.

While traveling, I will make sure to bring friends along as I visit some sacred sites, stay in some spa/retreat type places, participate in some outdoor adventure sports (SCUBA! SKI! etc.), research and visit intentional communities, and sample various mind-body-spirit well-being modalities; attend transformational festivals and gatherings; visit family and friends along the way; travel by BOAT as often as possible; AND DISTRIBUTE money and resources to BRILLIANT conscious Whole-istic programs, communities, organizations, entrepreneurs, engineers, businesses—basically anyONE I think has a DAMN good IDEA, service, product that will have a POSITIVE IMPACT on all levels of life on this planet.

*I hope this little exercise inspires YOU to think and perhaps write about how you WILL LIVE when money is no longer a factor in living YOUR dreams!

LIVE your bliss,
Kelly N Patterson (aka, the Goofy Guru)

A Goofy Guru Wedding

*Thank you, Craig and Agnes Lamb, for the once-in-a-Lifetime HONOR of officiating your BIG FAT Filipino-ish Wedding (in Costa Rica!)

Wedding Vows *specifically for Craig and Agnes Lamb

The best advice I ever did get
Did not come from a celebrated pundit
It came from very simple children’s stories
That addressed very adult worries

Therefore, if Dr. Seuss were to officiate
This sacred ritual, marriage—in which we now celebrate
I have no doubt this is what he would say
On this fantabulous, stupendous, supersplunky day

Ladies and Dudes, we are gathered here today-- because these people claim
That they want to share the same name!
But not just a name—but a life, dreams and a house—
My goodness, they want each other as a spouse!

Therefore, Craig do you promise to never make Agnes blue?
(Do you?)

C:  Yes, I do.

Agnes, do you promise to always be true?
(Do you?)

A:  Yes, I do.

Craig, do you promise to bring in sufficient revenue?
(Do you?)

C:  Yes, I do.

Agnes, do you promise to take care of Craig when he has the flu?
(Do you?)

A:  Yes, I do.

Craig, do you promise, in bed, to make Agnes coo?!
(Do you?)

C:  Yes, I do.

Agnes, do you promise to say daily--“I love you”?
(Do you?)

C:  Yes, I do.

Well, folks, then I think it is clear.
Craig and Agnes are supposed to be here!

Quick—where are the rings?!!!
We need to get on the celebrating these things!

May their love outlast the evergreen and plastic.
May their life (especially in bed) be nothing but fantastic.

This is a love that is plain to see
But it is much more official and legal in a ceremony

Craig and Agnes, I bless you with laughter, love and endless bliss
OK, NOW is when you are supposed to kiss!

OK, now it is official—written in the stars,
Agnes may be from Venus and Craig—well, Mars

But for some reason they belong together
And may this bond last for 2 forevers!

The Beginning!

The Gifts of being Homeless

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. ...”  Matthew 6:25-34

It is easy to be grateful for the human-angels, miracles, delightful surprises (“Happy Birthday!”) and JOYS in life. Therefore, I challenge you to find and feel GRATITUDE for the unique challenges you are currently facing--whether they be divorce, dis-ease, death of a loved one, foreclosure, poverty, un-safe environment, etc. I have a theory that finding gratitude in every aspect of our lives, especially the “uncomfortable” parts, is the key to tangible healing, wisdom and compassion. **Just a theory ;)  Therefore, I have started looking at my own unique “challenges” and identifying the hidden gifts.

For a year now, I have been living as a “conscious nomad”; however, most people would refer to me as “home-less.”  It is true!  I do not have a home of my own!  How this came about was 1/3 a conscious decision; 1/3 scientific experiment on self (*testing MY TRUST in a loving, abundant Universe); and 1/3 due to economic forces (out of my control).  In other words, living homeless has been a very 3D exercise in my ability to gracefully let go and allow (*and just know, some days are better than others!)

I am not going to lie to you, this whole experience has been very challenging (physically, emotionally, spiritually and intellectually), VERY humbling, sometimes stressful (*imagine asking yourself, “So where am I going to sleep TONIGHT?!”) and has constantly tested my “faith”, my patience and my self-worth.

However, I CHOOSE to see the GIFTS of being home-less:

1.     Being homeless FORCES you to “live in the now” and reminds you DAILY what TRUST really means—it means not knowing where you will eat, bathe and sleep any given night and trusting the Universe (working through other people and circumstances) will provide and your needs will be met.   *In my experience, I have been overwhelmingly BLESSED!  *For proof, just visit my Facebook page and look at all my photos over the past year! https://www.facebook.com/kellyofthepattersons
2.     Being homeless makes you vulnerable, makes you humble, forces you to ask for help—all which can serve to break down protective barriers to your heart AND diminish EGO.
3.     Being homeless is a constant daily practice of GRATITUDE for every bed (or couch, air-mattress, yoga mat, etc.), every meal, every shower (*and especially bubble baths!), every warm-cozy place, every “little” luxury—from juicing to “movie night” at home; from turning a living room into a roller-rink to doing your laundry.
4.     Being homeless shows you the true value of friendship and turns strangers into friends.  Nearly half the places I have stayed over the past year were with strangers, who are now beloved friends and SOUL FAMILY.   *I cannot say THANK YOU enough, but I will try!  ;)
5.     Being homeless changes your values and priorities, you let go of the superficial (like gossip, petty disagreements and discomforts like traffic and noisy neighbors, etc.), allowing yourself to deeply connect with yourself and others.
6.     Being homeless shows you what TRUE GENEROSITY looks like.  It is LOVE-based SHARING without the expectation (or demand) of something in return.
7.     Being homeless gives you a unique brand of freedom—which has allowed me to travel all over the continental United States over the past year (*and have a damn good time while doing it!)
8.     Being homeless has given me the opportunity to break the stereotype-du-jour of “The Homeless” in general.  So whenever I catch someone speaking negatively about “The Homeless”, I chirp, “Well, I am homeless too!”
9.     Of course, being homeless also means I have no bills: no mortgage, no utilities, no insurance, no taxes, no water-heaters to fix, etc.
10. Being homeless has no doubt been a multi-level enriching experience for me and I am eternally grateful to all the people who “showed up”, especially over the past year, and have been part of my experience. Thank you for your true generosity, love and compassion.  You have all reminded me that LOVE is limitless...

All THAT appreciation said, my new intention for myself is to create my own warm-cozy home which will serve as a LightHouse—a sanctuary for myself and others-- *and preferably near a warm ocean!

Live your bliss,
Kelly N Patterson (aka, The Goofy Guru)

Project LightHouse Invitation

This is an INVITATION to a WHOLE-listic new way of BE-ing, THINK-ing, SPEAK-ing, LEARN-ing, and DO-ing…you know, LIVING!  Project LightHouse is essentially a GRAND community EXPERIMENT in ALL aspects of LIFE—from pre-Birth to after-death, and EVERYthing in between!

Project LightHouse is a radically FREE space, created and supported by Lightworkers, to allow us ALL to co-create a NEW EARTH (starting with ourselves) and have a damn good time while doing it!

WHO?  Who are we, at Project LightHouse?

Well, essentially we are all different splices of YOU—so we are a constant FLOW of different people on different paths, from different places, with different perspectives/languages/diets/backgrounds/philosophies/tastes in music and the arts—basically, people with different ways of interpreting OUR world.  We, at Project LightHouse, SEEK and HONOR the TRUTH, LOVE and BEAUTY in everyONE, in everyTHING—no matter what flavor.

inclusivity [ˌɪnkluːˈsɪvɪtɪ] n
The policy of not excluding members or participants on the grounds of gender, race, class, sexuality, disability, etc. –**however, we would like to add religion/spirituality, philosophy, diet, healing methods, etc.

We practice INCLUSIVITY here because we want a NEW EARTH that welcomes and honors everyONE!  We are committed to LEARNING how to see the LOVE and WISDOM in everyONE/everything; practicing HEART-based thinking, speaking and actions in ALL aspects of our lives; and TRANSMUTING negativity and OLD BELIEFS into POSITIVE NEW BELEFS-- ON A DAILY BASIS.    *Think Burning Man every day!

WHAT?  What is a LightHouse?

A conscious cooperative WHOLE-istic endeavor to establish a sacred space for Lightworkers to reside, rest, re-charge, share, unite, co-create, teach, learn, celebrate, and be.

WHEN?  The answer is always NOW!  *Or sometimes, “42!”

WHERE?  Project LightHouse is located at 250 Mc Laughlin Way, Chico, CA---just off of Cohasset Rd.

WHY?  Inspired by Cyndi Lauper, “Girls and Boys just wanna have fun!”

HOW?   We are figuring out the “HOW” every minute of every day through trial and error; self and group education, communication, meditation, and reflection; channeling; yoga; growing and eating healthy organic foods and medicines; dancing; singing; making art; playing; laughing; crying; washing dishes; co-creating small conscious eco-businesses based on our passions; and all that, you know—LIFE STUFF!

What does this look like?

This means LETTING GO of OLD BELIEF SYSTEMS and THINKING, SPEAKING and ACTING from the HEART (*and not from the mind or ego!) in ALL aspects of our lives—including the mundane stuff like chores and errands.  This means LIVING the 10 principles of Burning Man every day.  This means radical honesty and non-violent communication every day.  This means honoring and celebrating ourselves (and naturally, others!) every day.  NOTE: This is a PLAY-in-PROGRESS!
